AMC 10/12 Contest Award

At the AMC10/12 competition in November 2022, a number of our participants achieved excellent results, with a total of seven students entering the American Invitational Mathematics Competition (AIME). Morgan Lin (G12) received a perfect score of 150, and Jiahong (Luck) Sun (G9) entered the U.S. National Mathematical Olympiad (Junior Division). USAJMO). The seven students who made it to the USA Invitational Mathematics Olympiad (AIME) are listed below

BCC Contest Award

The BCC The Beaver Computing Challenge (BCC) introduces computer science to students. It’s designed to get students with little or no previous experience excited about computing.

The BCC is a problem-solving contest with a focus on computational and logical thinking. Questions are inspired by topics in computer science but only require comfort with concepts found in mathematics curriculum common to all provinces.

CJMC Contest Award

Canada Jay Mathematical Competition (CJMC) is a Canadian math competition open to students in grades K-8. This competition has been created by mathematicians from across Canada. It was renamed in 2022 from the original name Canadian Mathematical Gray Jay Competition (CMGC) to match the renaming of the Canada Jay bird.

At the CJMC (a.k.a. CMGC) competition organized by the Canadian Mathematical Society in November, 8 of our 11 participants achieved excellent results, including two Ontario Honor Roll. The winning students are listed below

AMC 8 Contest Award

The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple-choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills. The AMC 8 provides an opportunity for middle school students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers. Students apply classroom skills to unique problem-solving challenges in a low-stress and friendly environment.

Waterloo Fryer/ Gauss / Hypatia / Euclid / Fermat /Cayley /Pascal

CEMC contests are designed for Grades 5 to 12. CEMC contests are a great fit for students with a range of abilities—from learners who want to explore math and computer science and develop their confidence, to advanced students who want to stretch their limits.

The Fryer, Galois and Hypatia (FGH) Contests are a unique opportunity for participants to write a full-solution contest — a format that can help learners develop both problem-solving and communication skills. These fun and engaging contests encourage critical thinking as participants tackle problems that build to a larger, more complex task to solve in each question.

The Gauss contests introduce students in Grades 7 and 8 to a broader perspective of mathematics in a fun, accessible way. Intriguing problems and a multiple-choice format make the Gauss contests a wonderful opportunity for all participants to grow their interest in and get curious about the power of math.
